Lack of leadership and community representation. The larger community is often unware there is a Township Board to represent the five districts of Pike Township. I will engage the community, hold regular meetings and seek community input before voting on community matters. I can't represent the community if I'm not meeting with the community.
I would like support services to keep up with inflation, therefore those in need can properly be aided. I would like to see Board members have more of an active role in Township contracts so the community is aware on where , who and why Township dollars are being spent. I would like to see the Fire Merit Board expanded in which the Township Board could appoint or nominate members from each of the five districts to serve on the Fire Merit Board, after all it's the peoples Fire Department.
We need a transparent, community focused, checks and balanced Township Board in order to protect the Township from financial hardships other Townships are facing. In order for this to happen we need intentional leadership which is why I am running for the Pike Township Board.
Ensuring a balanced budget and including action items within the budget after hearing directly from the community. The Township Board can support our Township School Debt Service Funds as appropriate under IC 36-1-8-5. For the Township to benefit holistically we need the right people in the right positions at the right time.
