Your Experience/Qualifications John believes in a collaborative style of management. He feels everyone should have their say, recognizing that does not necessarily mean everyone can have their way. For every point of view on every topic there is an opposing point of view. Good decision making relies on understanding the many sides of an issue, then finding a solution that best represents all sides. Not everyone will get everything they want, but most should get some of what they want.

County Wallowa
Term 4 years
Among Wallowa County's challenges are chronic housing shortages and economic development challenges. These challenges have had a negative impact on our community's economic development, making it difficult for businesses to attract and retain workers and for residents to live and work in the community. The current mental health crisis is deeply intertwined with economic and social factors. As Commissioner, I will join other commissioners in continuing the work in collaboration with the Oregon State Government and local non-profit organizations to find ways and means to alleviate the above issues. There are no quick fixes for the issues we face, hence work in progress with long term positive effects is of utmost importance.
Communication: With nearly 30 years of experience in business, media, and public affairs, I excel at turning ideas into clear, concise messaging. Leadership: Leading by example with courage, respect, and resilience, I foster strong relationships to inspire and empower individuals to reach their full potential while achieving organizational goals. Business Operations: Streamlining processes and operations to ensure everything runs efficiently within budget has been essential to my business life. Research: The ability to research concisely and efficiently to identify solutions is a strong part of my problem-solving toolkit. Time Management: Strong prioritization and time management skills allow me to exceed expectations consistently.
A comprehensive approach to affordable housing requires collaboration on multiple levels. Regional planning with neighboring communities can ensure a housing plan that meets the overall supply needs of the area. Advocating for state and federal funding programs is essential to provide financial resources for development. Finally, ongoing data collection and analysis of housing market trends are crucial to inform effective policy decisions.
