Row River Rural Fire Protection District Director {_getChooseLabel(this.selections.length)}

Special districts in Oregon are formed to govern specific resources. Examples include people’s utility districts, library districts, sewer districts, irrigation districts, ports, and cemetery districts. Some districts get revenue only from taxes; others, such as water districts, get revenue from ratepayers. Others may combine the two sources. Each district is governed by a Board of Directors, which is responsible for the operation of the district and its financial accountability.In this election, voters are deciding whether to create a new special district, the Row River Rural Fire Protection District. If they do, the new district will need a Board of Directors. This race is to elect those Directors. Voters may vote for up to 5 candidates. Their terms in office have not yet been determined.

I have been volunteering with Row River Fire Response since the summer of 2023.
Started volunteering for RRFR summer 23. Assisted with signature gathering and community outreach. Was asked to apply and became a board member of RRFR in winter 23. Through the process of getting our fire district on the ballot and voter approval, I worked closely with 2 fellow board members. We testified in front of Lane County Commisioners. lobbied for funds to support fire district to our state legislators, and attended Special Rural District Association Conference.
I graduated from UO in 1989 and immediately began my career in management for Marriott Hotels. In 1991, I was hired at Eugene Costco. I held numerous leadership positions including Front End Supervisor, Majors (Electronics) Supervisor, and 10 years as the warehouse Safety Coordinator.

I was on the faculty of Miami University for 30 years, and I was the chair of the Physics Department for 10 years. During that time I managed a major renovation of a building, and the subsequent move of the Department to this building, among other things. I am a trained scientist and am practiced in making decisions based on facts and data.

Currently an active and responsive member of RRFR volunteer firefighters. I have attended multiple days of Ride-Alongs with SLFR and have been a first response member to incidents in our community. My former occupation managing a commercial subcontractor business specialized in fireproofing and firestopping applications.
I have volunteered hundreds of hours in training, commications, and responded to emergencies as part of a team. I will bring an operational understanding of the RRFR volunteers needs and safety.
I managed a construction company with 16+ installers working job sites across the state of Oregon for nearly 15 years. I was the company Safety Officer and have spent multiple hours in an OSHA classroom being trained and certified in many hazardous scenarios. I have an Associates Degree in Business Management.
