1) Affordable housing for residents who wish to work and live in Hood River County. To address this issue the County Council needs to determine how to correctly adjust the zoning laws within their purview to allow for additional housing that is available to county residents with limited income.

2) The county budget is limited and the council must be creative to devise methods of income generation that are both ecologically and economically responsible for residents of the county.

3) The dramatic growth of the county has put stress on all of our residents as many new people move into a valley with history as a small community. To address the growth issues takes someone who has history in the county as a young third generation resident.
The County Commissioner role requires the ability to understand complex systems and make informed choices (taking into account the views of its residents and small-business owners) to create positive outcomes that benefit the residents of our county. As a professional software engineer for 20 years my speciality is understanding owners and customers of the software systems and the systems themselves to create beneficial outcomes for both parties. I bring this passion for learning and understanding as well as the communication skills needed to help move the county forward while personally understanding the history of the county.
I support the increase of affordable housing in our county while respecting the history of this still small community. Creating housing that can support the workers of the small businesses that are the lifeblood of our community without ruining the character of the county is a major priority but keeping new housing available to those who want to live and work for the small business community and not those who seek to use the housing as a second home or residence is even more important.
