Qualifications: Candidate must be a US Citizen, a registered voter, a resident of the district for one year prior to election and 21 years of age or older. Proof of certification or eligibility by the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training must be provided to filing officer no later than 61 days prior to the election; exceptions may apply.Term: 4 years Salary: Varies by CountyIn Event of Vacancy: County governing body appoints qualified person to serve until successor is elected at next regular election.Duties: The County Sheriff typically provides civil, corrections, and law enforcement services for the county.
