Member of a ten-person commission that advises the Secretary of Public Education. Commission authorizes and monitors all state-chartered charter schools. Positions are unpaid, except for limited per diem expenses. Elected for a four-year term.

Commissions need people with varied experiences and understanding, I have 13 years as an engineer and 23 yrs in public service, two years as a school board member, 20 yrs of volunteer work.
Providing students and parents in New Mexico with quality, innovative options with in Public Education. Supporting Charter Schools with their mission. Driving Quality education across the spectrum of Public Education.
Why should we limit high performing options for education when we live in the cellar in national education ratings.
The PEC has a rigorous application process for new school that requires the appropiate financial plan and renewing schools are graded on their ability to manage their approved plans within the performance framework review.
