Education Susan holds a B.S. in Business Finance & Information Systems from the Indiana University School of Business.
Experience and qualifications Susan Huhn has sat on the Henry County Council for the past five years. During that time, the county’s general fund has gone from a 0% operating reserve to a 25+% operating reserve. The council’s commitment to consistently submitting balanced budgets based on conservative tax receipt estimates has driven this improvement in financial security. Susan’s years of county finance and budget experience will prove to be valuable in fulfilling the duties of county commissioner. In addition, her knowledge of all county funding sources and expenditures is an asset towards working collaboratively with all stakeholders in county government.
Community involvements Susan is a committed member of Memorial Baptist Church and an active and involved member of the Henry County Council.
Road and bridge improvements are always a priority. Maximizing the amount of roadwork done is the continued priority of our highway department.

Ensuring that water and sewer is available in developing areas will drive continued economic development in the county. Water and sewer attract new businesses and new individuals into the county.

Quality affordable housing is needed both for current residents of Henry county as well as to attract new individuals into the county.

Infrastructure improvements that support quality affordable housing should be prioritized. These projects include water and sewage projects that allow neighborhoods to be built. I support the prioritization of these projects from state grant programs.

I also support programs that encourage new individuals to move into the county. For example, a fund to support and administer a workforce retention and recruitment program was established using coronavirus local recovery funds. I supported this program and would like to see additional programs like this implemented.

Increasing costs are already constraining the county's budget. Taxes were raised last year to ensure 911 service was maintained. Tax increases are being considered this year to maintain EMS service as well as to assist our local fire departments. Therefore, I do not support further tax increases for drug abuse and support recovery; however, I do support utilizing additional drug recovery programs in our jail with the goal of transferring expenses from holding inmates to recovery.
