Previous public office Stow City Council At-Large. Stow-Munroe Falls Board of Education.
My success as the administrator of an academic department at a university, school board president, at-large city councilperson, and executive management team member of a policing consortium is due to my ability to research, listen, and learn from others. I have sponsored several practical initiatives that solve problems and raise the quality of life for my constituents including: a better process for dealing with nuisance properties, funding for the trimming of overgrown trees on the tree lawn, more accommodating zoning for people with disabilities, a program that helps kids in our schools who are struggling with addiction. I brought air conditioning and security vestibules to our schools and established a security committee that made systematic improvements to school safety. I have volunteered to conduct dozens of security training courses in every district building, saving the district thousands of dollars. Most importantly, I have a record of working well with others.
The services provided by county government directly impact the health, welfare, and safety of residents - that is what attracted me to this office. Programs that support the elderly, disabled, veterans, and those with mental health and addiction challenges are relied upon by many. We must maintain our infrastructure, including our wonderful parks, roads, sewers, and bridges. The courts, prosecutor's office, sheriff's office, and other public safety services must be supported and properly resourced. My priority is to work with the local officials in District 3, other members of county council, and the county executive to maintain the effective and efficient delivery of these important services. As a criminal justice researcher, I look forward to continuing my work with public safety and human services officials, and will support evidence-based and data-driven approaches to crime prevention, emergency management, rehabilitation programs, and services for victims of crime.
Success in public service requires a developed ability to work well with others for the good of one’s constituents. Video recordings of Stow City Council (2022/23) are available on the City of Stow web page. Instead of relying on self-aggrandizing campaign material provided by the candidates, you can directly view their conduct in office. Then ask: Who do I want on my team? Who conducts themselves with the temperament and professionalism required for the position? Who treats others with courtesy, dignity, and respect? Who seeks advice and expertise from others? Who respects the perspectives of others, and not just those in their political club? Who listens more than they speak? Who is there to solve problems and increase the quality of life in the community? My listening, research, and communication skills have been developed over decades in leadership positions, and have led to a record of accomplishments.

I have an extensive knowledge of the issues Summit County is dealing with and have been able to work with the Administration and other Council Members to address those needs, both the governmental and personal needs of residents. Having a good reliable working relationship with the various organizations in the County has helped me, while working along side of others, make Summit County one of the most successful Counties in the State of Ohio to live in.
Continuing to address the State Legislature and our State Representatives about Summit Counties high property taxes, which the State sets every three years.

Summit County continues to experience a high death rate of young children in the County. I will continue to work with the various agencies, to deal with and reduce the loss of our children.

Crime continues to be an issue. The jail's needs, and updates to the jail buildings are being addressed. The Administration and Council has successfully developed the Consolidated Dispatch System. We are currently running fiber around the County to help those communities and schools that do not have internet.

Substance abuse, veterans needs, mental health issues, children currently in CSB, all continue to be a concern. My husband is a Vet, I have worked in the public mental health system for over 25 years. I am aware of the needs of others and am working diligently with various agencies to address those needs
I will continue the work as I am currently doing. Meeting with County Agency leaders on a regular basis. Being open and honest with the County Administration, so as to maintain a good working relationship, that in turn will help me meet the needs of those I represent. I am actively involved at the state level serving on State Committees to address the needs of Summit County. As always I am available to speak with anyone in my district and beyond that may have a need I can help resolve.
