The primary challenge lies in bridging the needs of today’s residents with tomorrow's opportunities. Licking County faces the daunting task of planning, prioritizing, and constructing infrastructure at an accelerated pace. In addition to the current replacement and maintenance schedules, additional investment is crucial for improving roads and water systems. Water and sewer projects are being planned while water quality studies are still being completed. Schools are gearing up for population growth, often without guaranteed funding. Coordinating communities to collaborate on these challenges and coordinating County efforts while respecting individual communities will set Licking County up for a bright future.
With 29 years as a family farmer and diverse career experience, I bring a unique blend of skills and love of community. My leadership extends from serving as Granville Township Trustee, to spearheading the early days of the Canal Market District, where I proved myself as a community builder. I spent my career collaborating and fostering relationships with local leaders, based on cooperation and respect. I won a second term, months before the Intel announcement, and my role transitioned from isolated township operations, to advocating for the needs of the larger community. This includes strategic planning with neighboring municipalities, seeking economic development experts, and coordinating agencies to protect our natural resources.
Returning to Licking County in 2012 after my husband's military service, our main challenge was finding career opportunities in manufacturing and engineering. Intel and related projects offer opportunities for skilled jobs and retaining young talent in central Ohio. The challenge of the increasing skilled labor will be to ensure our schools are properly supported through the growth. This level of development comes with environmental and housing concerns. Small businesses face rising costs and challenges to maintain their place in our community. We must look outward at communities who have gone through this, to learn and replicate best practices. Leadership must weigh expert advice and local input for our community's best interest.
To protect Licking County’s most important assets and support future demands by increasing professional capacity. This includes competitively hiring the staff needed to support the increasing demands of the population and development. Our community faces proposals from outside interests that have a lot of resources, and who do not share our vision for the future. I want Licking County to be proactive in our planning approach to meet the demands we are facing over the next decades rather than remaining reactive to outside pressures. This includes comprehensive planning and knowing that what happens in one area of our county impacts the rest of the county from traffic, water, schools, taxation and even recreation.

The primary challenge facing every elected official in Licking County over the next four years is the rising tide of poverty (coupled with the increasing cost of living). Homelessness is growing here, and we can't deal with that until we address the conditions which make homelessness possible. With the economic influences of Intel, we can only expect this problem to get worse if we don't aim to grow responsibly. We must make sure that our policies leave no one behind. I will do everything within my power to serve all Licking Countians to the fullest extent that this office permits.

Having a diverse set of views representing the County - instead of the one-party rule we have seen for so long - will be beneficial to everyone.
My inexperience in elective office doesn't inhibit my ability to perform at the level that the people deserve. I am a quick learner and I am no stranger to resolving conflicts. Having worked with the public in retail for the past 11 years has taught me how to listen better and especially how to take criticism. You can't let your ego get in the way of being an effective representative of the will of the people.

The people need someone who isn't afraid to do some introspection. The people need someone who isn't afraid to speak their mind. The people need someone who will work tirelessly to get the job done. I am confident that my life and work experiences - as well as my education - has adequately prepared me to do this job.
The greatest opportunity presented by Intel is a pathway for countless citizens to rise out of poverty and well into the Middle Class. There is incredible potential for individual progress on a vast scale. Moreover, this impending transformation will likely be much broader than just the jobs at Intel. We can expect that many other employers will seek to compete with the wages. This will undoubtedly lead to major population growth.

With that progress also comes the possibility of many left behind as they are priced out of their homes and find every aspect of life here out of financial reach.

We address this by listening first to citizens about their needs and then to experts on how to address them. Our goal MUST be to lift everyone up.
My primary goal is to show the people that government can be a force for good when you elect representatives who listen and strive to implement a vision which reflects the will and needs of the people.

I want to see poverty and homelessness fall. I want to see a restoration of our unity. The sense of collective responsibility to our neighbors. I strongly believe in the notion that "it takes a village" because my experience and education has shown me that humanity thrives when we work towards common goals.

I want to defang the beast of cynicism by showing everyone that their voice matters. I hope to see an end to the trope that "all politicians are corrupt". It won't be easy, but I feel confident that the people's faith can be restored.
