I have been a resident of McLean County for over 55 years and am a 38 year member of Laborers’ Local 362. I have worked on many construction projects throughout the County. As a foreman and a job steward I have learned to work together with contractors and their mangers to complete projects on time and under budget. In my current position as a Railroad Training and Education Fund Administrator, I am responsible for managing funds on behalf of the Railroad Board of Trustees and their railroad contractors. In addition, I would bring to the Board experience as a Dawson Township Trustee where I work on behalf of the constituents of Dawson Township by working with other trustees to allocate tax payer money judiciously through specialize funds.
As a person who has lost a family member to gun violence, this issue is close to my heart and I feel for people who have had a loss or been affected by gun violence. I believe that community involvement and support of community groups such as the Boys and Girls Club and Western Avenue Community Center, church groups, and neighborhood community leaders in connection with city police departments and the McLean County Sheriff’s office is vitally important to provide activities and direction for young men and women that will help them become active, caring and responsible citizens of McLean County.
To help protect the public’s confidence in the County Board, I would conduct myself in a way that is respectful to others even when there are disagreements of opinion. I would not participate in any negative behavior and would encourage thoughtful discussion of the issues.
Access to affordable housing - I would pursue policies for affordable housing in McLean County based on the findings and recommendations of the McLean County Regional Planning Commission’s Regional Housing Recovery Plan and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Plan evaluation of housing needs and services for affordable housing in Bloomington Normal that would utilize tax payer monies in a responsible way.
