State government should focus on increasing housing supply, lowering construction costs, and helping working families achieve homeownership, not just expanding subsidies.

This means cutting regulatory barriers and streamlining permitting so homes can be built faster and more affordably, while investing in infrastructure like water, sewer, and roads to open up buildable land.

South Dakota should also support workforce housing through targeted incentives and help first-time buyers with down payment assistance. At the same time, we must invest in skilled trades to address labor shortages.

The long-term solution is simple: build more homes and make it easier for South Dakotans to own them.
State government should ensure every student, regardless of zip code, has access to a high-quality education while keeping decisions local.

This means supporting teachers with competitive pay and retention efforts, especially in rural areas, and expanding career and technical education, apprenticeships, and workforce pathways.

We also need fair, student-based funding that reflects local costs, along with stronger early childhood programs and better access to broadband and modern facilities.

Prepare students for real-world success while supporting teachers, respecting parents, and strengthening local schools.
South Dakota’s initiative and referendum process is a vital tool that gives citizens a direct voice in government. It should be protected while remaining fair, transparent, and accountable.

I support keeping the process accessible for grassroots efforts, while ensuring voters clearly understand what they’re voting on through plain language and accurate fiscal impact statements. Transparency around out-of-state funding is also important.

I would oppose changes that make it harder for everyday South Dakotans to participate but support reasonable safeguards to prevent abuse and confusion.

Protect the people’s voice and keep the process honest and trustworthy.
I’ll be watching to ensure South Dakota maintains the right balance between voter access and election integrity.

Recent law changes should strengthen confidence in elections, but must not create barriers for eligible voters. I’ll focus on making sure new requirements don’t make it harder to register or vote, especially in rural and tribal communities.

Any voter challenge process must be fair, evidence-based, and not open to abuse or intimidation. At the same time, voter ID and verification systems should remain secure while allowing lawful voters to cast a ballot.

Protect election integrity while ensuring every eligible South Dakotan can vote.
State government should expand access to affordable, quality childcare while supporting working families and providers.

This means reducing unnecessary regulations that drive up costs while maintaining safety standards, and expanding childcare assistance for working families. The state should also support providers through grants, tax relief, and workforce development to address staffing shortages.

Encouraging partnerships with employers and communities can help grow childcare options, especially in rural areas.

Make childcare more affordable and accessible without limiting choices for families
South Dakota faces several key challenges that will shape our future.

Housing affordability is a major issue, with too few homes driving up costs for working families. Workforce shortages in trades, healthcare, and public safety are also limiting growth.

Rising property taxes are putting pressure on homeowners and small businesses, while infrastructure needs continue to grow in expanding communities.

Finally, retaining young people is critical. We need strong career pathways and opportunities so they can build their future here.

Support working families, grow responsibly, and keep South Dakota strong.
Create fund to assist low-income renters.
Stop relying on property taxes to fun schooling.
Because the legislature is too often disconnected from citizen concerns I am a fan of initative and referendum processes. A simple majority vote should be the rule.
The statewide SAVE law needs to be challenged, repleaed, or struck down. .
Subsidize childcare
The three issues I have put at the top of my list are drinking water protection, school funding, and affordable housing.
