As Mayor of Fremont, I managed multi-million-dollar budgets, cut the city’s property tax levy by over 25%, and reduced unnecessary taxes while maintaining essential services. I have real-world experience making responsible financial decisions, prioritizing long-term stability over short-term gains. I understand that state investments and pension funds must be managed with discipline, transparency, and a focus on protecting taxpayers and retirees. As Treasurer, I will apply conservative financial principles, demand accountability, and ensure Nebraska’s funds are invested wisely and securely for the future.
Transparency is essential to earning the public’s trust. As Treasurer, I will ensure Nebraskans have clear, accessible, and timely information about how their tax dollars are managed. That means strengthening financial reporting, modernizing online transparency tools, and making state investment and pension data easy to understand. I will support regular, detailed audits and hold agencies accountable for responsible stewardship. Taxpayers deserve to know where their money is going, and I will work to ensure state finances are open, honest, and fully transparent.
My top priorities are protecting taxpayer dollars, ensuring strong returns on state investments, increasing transparency, improving affordability, and returning unclaimed property to its rightful owners. As Treasurer, I will apply disciplined, conservative investment strategies focused on long-term stability. I will modernize transparency tools so Nebraskans can clearly see how their money is managed. I will also work to return unclaimed funds to the people—because it’s their money. My focus will be on responsible management and delivering real value for Nebraskans.
