The most pressing challenge facing our state is a lack of economic opportunity and equality. All Montanans deserve access to affordable, reliable, healthcare, insurance and public services, high-quality public education, and stable employment. Yet those basic structural rights, opportunities, and services are out of reach for too many. I will support a fair tax code that seeks to provide ample funding for public services like behavioral health services and public education, shifting the tax burden away from property owners and onto large corporations. I will support the creation of diverse, high-paying job opportunities and workforce development, and will promote policies that help small businesses and entrepreneurs thrive.
I will work to increase Montana’s renewable energy development and prioritize increasing the state’s wind energy generation to eventually become an exporter to neighboring states. I will support incentivizing investment in energy efficiency, modernizing building energy codes, and revisiting the proposed property assessed clean energy (PACE) legislation that provides financial tools to businesses and property owners to invest in efficiency upgrades. I will also support pursuing the recommendations in the Governor’s Montana Climate Solutions Plan and establish a Disaster Resiliency Taskforce to review and improve upon Montana’s natural disaster resiliency. Finally, we must do this work through the lens of environmental justice.
I will support all policies that allow women to have autonomy, equality and security with respect to their bodies, professional choices, families, and futures. I will advocate for equal pay for equal work, state-wide paid maternity leave, and the use of campaign funds for childcare. I will support funding for programs that prevent sexual and domestic violence, strengthen services to support survivors, and increase resources to study and combat the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women epidemic. I will work to ensure women have the right to privacy, full decision making, and access to affordable, high-quality, comprehensive healthcare and support a woman’s right to choose. I will support Womxn running for office and into leadership positions
I strongly believe Montana needs to provide high-quality, public education for children from pre-k through high school. The biggest gap in our education system is the lack of a state-funded pre-k program and finding affordable daycare with openings continues to be a daunting task for the young families in the Gallatin Valley. I will also work to bolster k-12 school funding and oppose any privatization of public education like charter schools or vouchers. I will advocate for policies that support public funding for public institutions, advocate for a university tuition freeze, and work to relieve the burden of student debt. I will be a vocal advocate for Bozeman's and MSU's students, and working families dependent on public education.
I believe in accessible, affordable, equitable healthcare, health insurance, and mental health services for all Montanans. I'll work to protect Medicaid Expansion by blocking any attempts to rollback or weaken the legislation. In addition, I’ll work to regulate insurance and pharmaceutical companies to lower the price of preventative care and prescription drugs and advocate for price transparency for healthcare services. I will work to ensure women have the right to privacy, full decision making, and access to affordable, high-quality, comprehensive healthcare. Finally, I will work to increase funding and services for behavioral healthcare while championing community providers.
