Given the cuts to the Wyoming Departments of Health and Family Services already made by Governor Gordon, how would you immediately protect the most vulnerable among us?

Do you support any legislation that may come before the 2021 session of the Legislature that could result in raising revenue? Please explain.

What is your position on “Medicaid expansion” that allows low-income adults to be eligible for healthcare coverage with 90% funding from the Federal government and 10% funding from the State?

My name is Britney Wallesch. I am a strong, principled, working-class, 5th generation Wyomingite. I am a life-long problem-solver with a strong sense of responsibility. I am an entrepreneur. As the founder and executive director of Black Dog Animal Rescue, I’ll use my experience building public and private partnerships to find solutions to our toughest problems.

My campaign is a coalition across the political spectrum, one which welcomes anyone who believes in a better future for our state, expects results, and embraces the variety of experience and belief which truly define the majority of our people.
Every person deserves to live in a safe, healthy community, with access to necessary resources. I will bring a lifelong, deep connection to the community into the capitol where I will fight for both the hardest working people and our most vulnerable populations such that they may have the freedoms every Wyomingite deserves.
I favor policies which will help support and expand our infrastructure, including broadband internet and roadways, fully fund our public school system, and provide civic and financial independence for our people. Some of these policies include expanding Medicaid, creating an investment tax, and instituting a corporate income tax.
Access to healthcare is about independence. I view quality and comprehensive healthcare as an investment in the potential of our people. In the legislature, I will fight for Medicaid expansion.

Smart programs will help ensure our doctors and nurses can stay here. Expansion of telehealth services can help provide access to healthcare, and our rural neighbors must have access to emergency responders.

With one of the highest rates of suicide in the country, Wyoming’s citizens need added support, and we need preventative mental health care. Identifying the causes of our mental health crisis, enacting policies to address it, and supporting funding for programs to support those policies are critical to protecting our people. Medicaid can help.
