Many people are not aware of what the School Board Trustees actually do. We are on the Board to oversee the Superintendent and task that person to achieve specific and measurable goals. We have a dynamic board, each of us brings different strengths to the table. My strength is in finance and planning for our future. I feel this makes me uniquely qualified to help guide the district's future. I also serve as a Director on the TASB board and have been a delegate for both TASB and MASBA.
Student safety is of paramount important. Katy ISD is trusted with almost 85,000 children! We are constantly reviewing what can be done better and more efficiently to care for our students well being, both physically and mentally.

I am passionate about a few things when it comes to safety, We need to continue with our police force, security guards in the schools. We need to continue to harden our existing schools which controls access in our schools. We also need to tighten our rules on children or teachers/administrators who may be ill. Current policy is to not attend school if you are not feeling well. We need to tighten enforcement of that rule. Lastly, we need to make sure that we address the phycological challenges our students face.
I feel that I am both approachable and open to the community. I frequently meet with parents and students alike to discuss education issues. I attend many meetings and events, this allows the community the opportunity to approach me and discuss our school district and the state of the schools in Texas. We do many things well in our community. I am always open for discussion about ways to better our district and community.
As discussed previously, as a Trustee, I am oversight. Working closely with the Superintendent is my role in achieving the goals we have as a district. I would direct you to the district web site (katyisd.org) and review the Strategic Design section. It is a wonderful, living plan of how Katy ISD can continue to provide a safe environment and quality education to all of our students.
