Vigo County Recorder

The county recorder’s primary function is to maintain permanent public records submitted for recording. These records are the legal basis for determining ownership of real property. These documents, sometimes called instruments, include mortgages, deeds, liens, military discharges, subdivision plans, leases, public and private bonds, personal property, and powers of attorney. Instruments are recorded either for giving legal public notice of their existence or for safekeeping and future reference.It is the duty of the recorder to see that each instrument meets the essential requirements for recording. Each instrument must be scanned and indexed into a computer system and then microfilmed for archival purposes.The county recorder prepares and furnishes official copies of any record or instruments when required by law or ordered by the court or requested by any parties. And if requested the recorder certifies that it is a true and correct copy of the document in the records of the office.Term: 4 years-- 2 terms or 8 years of service in a period of 12 yearsSalary: $68,666 per year

To serve the people the best I can.
I was the Recorder for 81/2 years made lots of improvements by implementing these programs that brought the office up to date. 1. Introduced Doxpop (software.) for convenience online document searches, benefiting, searchers, banks, and the public. 2. integrated a fraud alert feature through Doxpop, notifying property owners of any changes via email at no cost. 3. Implemented, simplifile, software, enabling online documents, recording, and submission to the recorders office for efficient and easy processing. 4. digitizing all county deeds mortgages, and miscellaneous records for ease of viewing for property owners. When I left the office I was proud of what I accomplished because it was better than when I came in.
I just know I have the experience to be the Recorder and whatever needs to be done I will do that.
I would continue to be a member of the Association of Recorders to find out if there’s any new things out there that would improve the office. There would be no change in personnel as long as the jobs were being accomplished.

Building and maintaining a positive impact in our county with character, personality and integrity.
I have been the Vigo County Recorder for the past 3 1/2 years and have been involved in several updates not only in the Recorders office but in the annex. We are finishing up a big project with Josh Dosson with US Imaging preserving records, and building our catalogue of online documents, soon all mortgages will be available online in addition to all deeds and all documents november of 2001 to present. Vigo county has ensured the quality and integrity of their land and important records. Archiving is a simple and cost-effective physical insurance policy that cannot be altered and will last forever.
Working with State Board of Account's and County Recorders of Indiana any potential problems that may arise we already have a plan to take care of, and any challenge that may come our way. We have numerous online web seminars and conference's every year, to help us with problems and situations that may come up.
The Vigo County Recorders Office staff and myself, will continue to serve the county to the best of our abilities. Our mission is to perform all mandated functions of the Vigo County Recorder's office with the highest degree of accuracy, provide our customers a true and reliable permanent account of all official records of Vigo County, and do so with the best commitment, courtesy and excellence by my office. Over the past 3 1/2 the staff and I have made great strides in helping the people of Vigo County, in any way that we can, and we will continue to do so in the future. No Personnel changes will be made.
