Michelle Beckley was elected on November 8, 2018, to represent House District 65 in the Texas House of Representatives and was re-elected in 2020. During redistricting, she was drawn into House District 63.

Her political inspiration stemmed from attending the 2017 Dallas Women's March.

Beckley's roots are firmly planted in her district. She attended public school in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District before earning a degree in Biomedical Sciences from Texas A&M University in 1992.

Her love for her community led her to manage and eventually purchase the Kookaburra Bird Shop in 2003. Beckley, along with her husband, Martin Mikes, resides in Carrollton.

She is committed to protecting small businesses, ensuring Texans can recieve high quality healthcare, and advocating for balanced economic and environmental policies in Texas.

Texans deserve better from its elected officials.
Texas must collaborate with the federal government to achieve comprehensive immigration reform and tackle the underlying factors driving migrants to come to the United States. Let us cease exploiting migrants for Abbott's political maneuvers and prioritize genuine solutions.
Texas must prioritize fully funding public education and take decisive action to prevent Abbott's special interest voucher groups from jeopardizing our public schools. With a significant surplus, it is crucial that we invest in the education of our future leaders.

Lewisville ISD, alone, would lose $20 million annually if the voucher scam bill passes.
Texas must prioritize several key areas to maintain its position as a frontrunner in wind and solar energy and environmental preservation. These include:

1. Continuously supporting and advancing initiatives that promote renewable energy sources like wind and solar power.

2. Investing in research and development to improve and enhance the efficiency of renewable energy technologies.

3. Expanding the use of mass transit solutions to reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainable transportation.

By focusing on these initiatives, Texas can contribute to a greener future and set an example for other regions to follow.
Denton County's pursuit of election day vote centers is crucial. In 2021, I successfully paved the way by securing my legislative priority within the comprehensive voting bill. This approach offers both convenience and financial prudence.

Key benefits of vote centers: 1. Enhanced convenience for voters. 2. Improved accessibility to the voting process. 3. Efficient use of resources. 4. Ensuring free and fair elections.
Texas urgently requires to implement comprehensive gun reform. This reform should include the following key measures:

1. Mandating universal background checks for all firearms purchases. 2. Strengthening restrictions on access to assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. 3. Improving mental health evaluation and reporting systems to prevent firearms access to individuals deemed a threat to themselves or others. 4. Implementing stricter regulations on gun sales at gun shows and online platforms. 5. Enhancing law enforcement resources and funding for proactive prevention of gun violence.

It is imperative that Texas takes bold action to address the pressing issue of gun violence and ensure the safety and well-being of its citizens.
