I envision the top 3 priorities facing Morris Township as:
Keeping taxes low while not reducing township services. In addition to finding new and innovative ways to share services with surrounding communities, including the school district, I seek to incorporate "green" technology such as using renewable energy sources on municipal properties and using biofuels to power diesel fleets. We need to continuously improve upon what works and fix what doesn't. I would seek input from the township sub-committees and the residents on other ways to keep taxes low while improving services.
The township committee must continue to focus on keeping all residents safe. The MTPD continues to do an outstanding job at policing and there's no reason to believe that they cannot continue to protect and serve with distinction. Here again, input from township residents would always be welcomed.
Lastly, we need to be forward-thinking in how we confront the impact of the climate crisis on our community. A top initiative of mine would be to put the township on a path to becoming certified "green". I want to see a green master plan incorporated into the township master plan. We must encourage reducing and reusing recyclables to lower our carbon footprint and reduce costs. Township residents need to know that leadership has a plan and is prepared for more frequent and severe storms which mean more power outages and flooding.
I have the qualifications and decades of work experience demonstrating successful leadership, planning, vision, and values that enable me to be an effective member of a committee that reflect the desires of all residents of the community. I've led teams of project managers to bring multi-million dollar, multi-year deals to closure.
I know the value of proper planning. In this case, smart planning for responsible growth, keeping taxes low, addressing the climate crisis. Smart planning also includes listening to the voices of the residents who will be most affected by new development.
Leaders are also visionary. In my years leading project managers, I've laid out the vision and, with the input of the team, devised the tactical steps to bring projects to fruition.
I have the energy to take on much-needed initiatives that will not only keep our taxes low but provide forward-thinking, continuous improvement of Township operations, now and for the foreseeable future.
I have the moral compass and the values to ensure that we all have a rightful say in township matters. We are a Township rich in cultural diversity that we must embrace so that we can all appreciate and learn from each other, to the enrichment of all.
