Winslow School District {_getChooseLabel(this.selections.length)}

An elected school board member serves a three-year term. The school board represents the concerns of citizens, taxpayers and parents to the school administrators, and represents the needs of the students and school district to citizens, taxpayers and parents. The school board does not operate the district on a day-to-day basis; that is the job of the superintendent (the district’s chief executive). Rather, the school board sets policies, goals and objectives for the district, and holds the superintendent responsible for implementing those policies and goals. I am running for reelection for the Winslow Twp. Board of Education, because I would like to continue working towards my original goals of student achievement, finding a common sense approach to bullying that will help throughout the district, and continuing to work on the Board's marketing and communication throughout the community.
The top budget priority for me is the money spent on student achievement. Whether it's curriculum upgrades, maintaining and upgrading our schools, giving professional development training to our teachers, the money spent to ensure our students that are educated in the classrooms in our schools are given everything necessary to have a successful life after graduation from Winslow Twp. High School.
Our students test scores mean a great deal to understanding how our students are succeeding or what we need to improve to help our students achieve academic success. In my time as a board member, I have went to several School Climate and Culture training classes, and I believe I can bring this information back to the other board members and the superintendent, the data tied to it will have a vast positive impact on increasing our district's test scores.
For the longest time the state's formula for state aid was unfair and a lot of districts were shortchanged or given more than their fair share. The latest formula makes apportioning state aid fairer, although there will be hardships for those dealing with cuts during the initial first few years and they will have to navigate their budgets creatively with hard cuts and tight fiscal spending, along with having a superb business administrator. This will now help give all districts a start towards financial equity.
In Winslow Twp. School District, our superintendent and board of education have continuously made safety and security upgrades in all of our schools. All of our schools are now complete with security vestibules, and currently we are building an addition onto our High School to get rid of the modulars, so there will be no need for students to leave the main building of the school upon completion. The Safety and Security of all of the students in Winslow Twp. is of the utmost importantance, so we constantly make improvements for that need.
