I am proud of the things we have accomplished in my first term on the school board. I was prepared with substantive knowledge of school board processes, district issues and a strong desire to positively affect student growth and learning. With one child still a student in the district, I have participated and actively volunteered in many areas of student and community life. I have experience as president of the high school PTA, as a faith formation teacher at St. Benedict the Abbott and involved whenever needed with many recreational youth sports teams. Being active in the community has enabled me to be a trusted force for positive change. I am motivated to continue our progress by listening and effectively communicating our residents needs. I have diligently served Peters Township as your School Director and am seeking another term to further maintain our low tax rate while sustaining our high academic and moral standards.
PTSD's strength has been maintaining a low tax rate while sustaining high academic standards. There is a strong leadership team in place and we have highly qualified teachers as evidenced by our #1 state ranking in PSSA standardized test scores. I want to continue to improve our district's academics for all students while maintaining our fiscal prudence.

While I remain proud of the work accomplished in my first term, I have goals yet to attain. We need to work on consistency between the classes in content and assessments, as well as our overall communication with parents and the community. I initiated the Academic Integrity Committee to increase honest scholarship and we must continue to reinforce those principles. Character Education and Civic Responsibility are also areas we can improve. I believe the new high school will be an asset to our community. There has been thoughtful consideration and attention to details thus far, but careful oversight must continue until its completion.

As a teacher for over 20 years I believe I have a good understanding of what constitutes good education, and I want to help ensure our kids get the best education we can provide within our financial means. As a school director I believe I have positively contributed to PTSD, I have enjoyed serving, and I would like to continue to serve the school and my community. We have accomplished much in the past 4 years, but I still have goals I'd like to pursue.
Under the current leadership PTSD students have recently achieved top PSSA and Keystone scores as well as accolades in vocational education, the fine arts, and athletics. We are also improving our high school facility with a new building and working to improve efficiency in other areas. Furthermore, according to outside professional audits, PTSD consistently maintains one of the tightest budgets in PA. We provide this stellar education all while spending less per pupil than many of our competing districts in Allegheny County. I think we need to continue examining our curricula, evaluate our assessment methods and tools, continue improving consistency across our courses, evaluate our daily and yearly schedules, and consider how best to use our facilities. PTSD may be the best district in PA, but that's no reason to stop trying to get better and give our kids the best education we can.

The strength of our district is a great leadership from the Superintendent and Administration who give guidance and leadership to our dedicated teachers. What needs to improve is currently in progress. That is maintaining the physical operation of our schools.
