School Board Dulles District
Loudoun County, Virginia is divided into eight magisterial districts: Algonkian, Ashburn, Blue Ridge, Broad Run, Catoctin, Dulles, Leesburg, and Sterling. The magisterial districts each elect one representative to the School Board. In addition, there is one At-large representative. The Loudoun County School Board is elected to a four year term. The Loudoun County Public School, LCPS, system is managed under the direction and authority of the Loudoun County School Board. The chairmanship of the School Board is elected annually by its members. While the School Board makes decisions relating to school policy and curriculum, it receives funding through the Board of Supervisors.

My top priority is to maintain the highest quality of public education. We have had so many distractions in our community that I feel we are loosing site of this priority. Investing in our workforce pays the greatest dividends. I will continue to pursue competitive compensation packages, recruiting the highest quality candidates, and training and retaining them. I hope to continue providing equitable resources to all of Loudoun students, empowering each to make meaningful contributions to the world. This priority is for all of Loudoun, not just the Dulles District.
A School Board member is first and foremost an advocate for children, educators, families, and the Loudoun community; an active listener; a champion for public education; a committed researcher, a resource manager; a steward of public funds; and a team player who is tireless, engaged, communicative, compassionate.
I would offer up my 30 plus years in the military and local government as evidence of commitment to public service; I would offer my eight years on the school board as significant experience for this position; I hope that my three years as Chairman, selected by my fellow board members, would highlight the bipartisan leadership necessary to focus our efforts and resources on our children; I would point to my direct involvement with every school staff in my district, and many outside of my district as evidence of my community engagement; I would offer my resume as a retired military officer with high level clearances to demonstrate my integrity; and I would point to my family of three Loudoun Students (two of whom are graduates) and educator-spouse as evidence of my family's investment in public education in Loudoun.
All of my Board positions, votes, and videos of the board meetings are available online at www.lcps.org
I look forward to working with the new School Board members to stabilize boundaries; to create long term plans for gifted education; to pursue impactful opportunities to improve special education; to identify and fund ELL support and mental health initiatives; to replicate school successes across the county; and to ensure our schools are a safe, modern, and clean environment in which our children can thrive.
