Tewksbury Township Committee {_getChooseLabel(this.selections.length)}

Tewksbury Township is governed under the Township form of government. The five-member Township Committee is elected directly by the voters at-large in partisan elections to serve three-year terms of office on a staggered basis, with either one or two seats coming up for election each year as part of the November general election in a three-year cycle. At an annual reorganization meeting, the Township Committee selects one of its members to serve as Mayor and another as Deputy Mayor.

The most important challenges facing the municipality in my opinion, aside from public safety and fiscal responsibility are Affordable housing, Storm water management and Municipal court. Affordable housing - Which I Chair, has met for the past year to bring our affordable housing needs to a defendable position-.these efforts have been successful with a 3rd round housing plan that will be presented in the near future. Storm Water management, which I formed was making good forward progression towards a resolution with the possible use of green infrastructure when our Township engineer passed away. Municipal government has a role in keeping students safe. Currently there is a police presence in both schools. The Tewksbury Township Office of Emergency Management with the Tewksbury Township Board of Education , along with local emergencies services (fire, first aid and rescue) has been working on emergency management and action plans in the event of natural disasters, terroristic threats and other potential dangers that would affect our children while they are in school. Security measures have been improved in both schools. Local government needs to keep vigilant in keeping students safe.

We need to find a way of addressing property management issues. People are being affected financially by their neighbors lack of maintenance creating an unsightly property. The challenge is creating such an ordinance without being overbearing or overreaching.
