2. What skills, expertise, or competencies qualify you for this position?

Personal Biography My husband and I and our then-2-year-old daughter moved to Prairie Village in 2008 to build our life in a city that offered excellent schools, public safety, an abundance of parks, and opportunity to build a community of neighbors and friends. As a born Communicator and Connector, one thing I will do, prior even to Day 1, will be to greatly enhance the lines of communication between this Ward seat and the citizens I will represent. I am excited to be a representative and advocate for Ward 3.

As City Councilmember, I will use my leadership and design background to: ◙ Maintain the diversity and affordability of our Prairie Village homes through city planning and neighborhood design standards. ◙ Advocate for a transparent community center study process to ensure residents are engaged and heard. ◙ Support fiscal responsibility to our taxpayers by annually evaluating our Mill Levy rate in relation to property values and long term city planning.
I have served in various volunteer and leadership positions within our local community and the Greater Kansas City area. This includes serving as President for both the Belinder Elementary PTA and the IIDA MidAmerica Chapter, holding board positions for the Johnson County Library Friends and Girls Scouts of Northeast Kansas and Northwest Missouri, and being a founding member of the Belinder Elementary Diversity & Inclusion Committee.

Some of the transferable skills I’ve gained over these years include: excellence in communication & organization; surveying stakeholders, finding commonality & consensus building; evaluation, modification & establishment of community programs; RFP processes: writing, responding & evaluating; and fund development & community engagement.
I look forward to a county-wide housing study. Prairie Village has already agreed to partner with the County and UCS for such a study, along with other municipalities. Having this study will be imperative to seeing the true status of our housing and the trends moving forward, so that we can make specific and targeted policy decisions to maintain existing and establish additional affordable housing in Prairie Village.
