Continuing the progress for Olathe, attracting new business with high paying jobs and listening intently to the way our citizens want us to spend THEIR dollars.
My business background allows me to examine the annual budget globally and specifically to ensure the best use of tax revenue; my marketing skills assist in communicating to the world what an amazing city we have become; my organizational development experience provides a view into the best way to organize city activities to achieve the maximum efficiency and effectiveness and my strategic planning background provides a process to set long term goals and measure the results of the City’s daily actions against those goals. Finally, my years of public service on several volunteer committees, Chairing the Olathe Planning Commission and serving on the Olathe City Council as Ward 2 Council member and Mayor Pro-Tem provide a a valuable experience to deal with all the challenges we will see as we continue the progress for Olathe.
Olathe is already the leader in the affordable housing area in Johnson County with far more units per capita than any other city. Our emphasis now should be the rehabilitation of existing older structures to transform them into high quality options for those seeking affordable housing.
My commitment and public comments have not changed during this entire conversation - the City of Olathe should never allow discrimination against any of our citizens. The challenge is to craft an ordinance that protects all our citizens and yet does not remove important rights for our citizens and businesses. I believe we can achieve that goal by the end of the year,
