The city council is expected to listen to our community first and foremost. Their concerns and well-being are our highest priority. Be that with utilities and sidewalks to law enforcement and ordinances, our community comes first. We are expected to function above politics for the betterment of all.
Our role to is objectively examine policy, hear our communities, and make decisions based on informed arguments and facts. Partisan games and positioning only serve to damage our communities and the integrity of the office.
We should be listening and reaching out every chance we get. Our communities are why the office exists in the first place. Their opinion carries weight and their needs come first.
We are advocates. It embodies 100% of our role. If we aren't advocating for our communities while on council, we don't deserve to be in office.
