For any proposal, I will be consistent in supporting staff to allow them to conduct their research and work without interference or outside influences to make their recommendations. A thorough and transparent vetting with the community follows this step. This way the appropriate stakeholders are involved and have a voice in the process. I will be a true representative of the community.
Working in partnership with community leaders and VDOT to continue an ongoing maintenance strategy. In the Henry district, Pole Green Road is the one of the areas of greatest concern for congestion.
Adhering to the county strategic plan while actually listening to citizen input regarding growth is critical. Currently the BOS has ‘tabled’ a decision on another major housing development. My take is they are waiting until after the election to approve it (against the will of citizens, but supported by developers) in the hopes that if they are re-elected, citizens will forget about this unsupported decision the next time elections come around. They're playing politics without leadership.
Affordable and high quality internet service to all areas of the county is a desperate need. By partnering with providers to bring this critical service to the county, I will begin to restore public trust in the elected officials of Henry district. Taking politics out of leadership is long overdue.
