The most important challenge facing the municipality is the staggering tax burden on our citizens . With one of the highest taxation rates per assessed home value in the state, our residents have difficulty making ends meet. As over 56% of the property taxes are provided to the Board of Education, this should be explored in terms of how state unfunded mandates have impacted the municipality over the last 15 years, and how the municipality can work to have this remedied. Our township is middle to low income, and we must be good stewards of the hard earned money of our citizens.

My background in the US Army and Corporate America has prepared me to dutifully dive into the details, and find where we can improve. I have also learned that great ideas come from everywhere, so I will listen and look for better ways to achieve results. Root causes of issues can be found, and I will use my problem solving abilities to help the town.
None at this time. There are numerous ordinances on the books, and many are not understood. My inclination is that as a member of Council, I would focus on enforcing what is already immortalized in the codebook, and not invent more.
I think the one of the primary roles of government is protection of the citizens. Therefore, protecting our most vulnerable citizens, our young and old, is critical. A strong police presence in and around the schools with resource offers is important, as well as police engagement with students in programming designed to prevent violent situations from occurring. Schools should equip teachers and administration with training for understanding and reacting to red flags.
