I FEEL THE MOST PRESSING ISSUES ARE ROADS, TAXES, WATER AND SEWER RATES AND BLIGHT. FINDING FUNDING FOR FAST DETERIORATING ROADS IS A MUST FOR THE CITY OF BURTON TO BE ABLE TO ATTRACT NEW BUSINESSES AND RESIDENTS. TAXES HAVE INCREASED BEYOND NORMAL HOUSEHOLD INCOMES, AS MAYOR I WILL WORK WITH CITY COUNCIL TO FIND WAYS TO SAVE MONEY FOR THE RESIDENTS. WATER AND SEWER RATES HAVE STEADILY INCREASED AND I WILL CONTINUE TO WORK ON FINDING WAYS TO LOWER WATER AND SEWER RATES. BLIGHT MAKES A CITY UNATTRACTIVE FOR BUSINESSES AND RESIDENTS, I WILL WORK TO ELIMINATE BLIGHT.
LOWER TAXES TO THE RESIDENTS, WHILE STILL MAINTAINING CITY SERVICES. TAXES IN BURTON HAVE INCREASED WAY TOO HIGH AND I WILL CONTINUE TO FIND WAYS FOR THE CITY TO BE MORE EFFICIENT. I WILL CONTINUE TO WORK ON FINDING WAYS TO LOWER WATER AND SEWER RATES. I WILL WORK WITH LOCAL, STATE AND FEDERAL SOURCES TO FIX OUR DETERIORATING ROADS. A MAYOR MUST WORK WITH THE CITY COUNCIL TO RESOLVE ISSUES THAT IMPACT OUR RESIDENTS. AS MAYOR I WILL HAVE TOTAL TRANSPARENCY. THE LAST 12 YEARS AS COUNCILMAN I HAVE A PROVEN RECORD THAT I STAND FOR THE RESIDENTS.

Campaign Message Don't let the things you can't do stop you from doing the things you can do.
The lack of understanding of the current council as to what their roles are in the city. This behavior has caused an inability for the Council and Administration to work together to get things done. It has also cost the taxpayers hundreds of thousands of tax dollars that are so desperately needed to maintain an experienced and capable group of employees. With a few changes on the City Council and a little education I believe we could get our city heading in the right direction. Also the upcoming Census is vitally important and surpassing 30 thousand residents is crucial.
Hiring professional administrators that can bring in and implement new ideas on how to move this city forward. Public Safety is always a priority and putting the right people in the right places is the answer. I think our new Police Chief is a step in the right direction. Hiring and maintaining enough skilled and certified workers to keep our infrastructure, (roads, water and sewer lines) in good shape is a major priority. I will work with our Downtown Development Authority and the Burton Chamber of Commerce to bring in new businesses.
The ability to listen to people, ask questions and come up with solutions. If there is a problem I want to be the first person to know about it so we can fix it. I have the ability to bring people together for a common cause. I love meeting new people and will be Burton's biggest cheerleader. Transparency is very important to me and I will make the residents aware of what we are doing in the city. I will show up to work on time every day and set an example for the employees. My team will raise the moral in our city to a new height and bring in businesses and jobs for all.
