First, I want every student in UDSD to attend school in a facility that supports 21st century learning. Unfortunately, decades of underfunding by the state have left many of our facilities in disrepair. In the last year and a half, the new School Board has worked to change that and to get our students the kinds of schools they deserve. I support those changes and would like to help us implement a long-term capital improvement plan. Second, I want to increase communication between parents, students, teachers, and administrators. The School Board has recently hired a new Director of Communications. I want to help her improve the connections between members of our community so that everyone is as informed and engaged as possible. Finally, I want to support having a broad range of program offerings, including career and technical education, so that every student finds not only great economic opportunities when they graduate, but also a passion for what they are learning.

EQUALITY EMBRACING I would make it a personal vow to sit down with all building principals & emotional support/counseling staff to determine the level/lack of support for the LGBT+ student populations that they serve. I would then interface with community members & charity organizations that would be able to volunteer their time & expertise to help our district bridge that gap.

RECOVERY READY In my capacity as a credentialed Recovery Specialist (YE-CRS, CRS), I would like to propose to the Board a scholarship program to provide CRS & YMHFA training to those teachers & administrators 1) interested & 2) most likely to come into contact with youth who could exhibit signs of substance use disorder.

FISCALLY RESPONSIBLE I want to liaise even closer with our state legislators & hold them accountable for bringing home the educational funding we deserve & are due (through board resolutions, trips to Harrisburg, collaborating with community members on editorials, etc.).
