Accountability, Transparency, and public engagement.

First, Accountability. One-party rule on Ridley School Board for the past decades has enabled the current School Board to make decisions about spending our tax dollars without enough scrutiny. We need to put all major contracts out for competitive bid, hire administrators and teachers based solely on qualifications (not party registration or personal ties).

Second, Transparency. School Board meetings should be recorded and made available to the public through livestreaming, and videos of previous meetings should be posted on the website. The School Board agenda should be made available to the public prior to every meeting.

Third, public engagement. The public should be encouraged to attend School Board meetings. There should be a process of including the public in the deliberations on major policy decisions and major expenditures, so that School Board policy can be guided by the input of taxpaying citizens.
