Qualifications for office I feel that my educational qualifications along with my 25 years of city and land planning experience in the public, private, and non-profit sectors spanning three states will serve the borough of Bellevue well. I have approved approximately 39,000 new building sites and/or development plans and represented various councils, developers, environmentalists, community groups, and elected officials at hundreds of meetings throughout my career. I will bring those qualifications along with my work ethic back home to serve the citizens of Bellevue, the town I was born in 49 years ago.
District Ward 2
1). Responsible Growth: We need a Councilman with the education and experience to help guide Bellevue's growth in a responsible manner. I've spent my career reviewing and regulating land use laws and development applications. Responsible growth will benefit the local businesses, taxpayers, and the economy of Bellevue. 2). Forge stronger relationships with local volunteer groups and neighboring Boroughs. We are stronger together! 3). Strengthen the Council through professional respect and cooperation. Lead by example and limit distractions that prevent us from moving forward.
Every voice deserves to be heard. My extensive experience with affordable housing issues, mass transit/ pedestrian planning, and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA compliance) may assist with dealing with such matters in Bellevue. Potential implementation of racial equity tools and strategies to develop and implement programs, policies, and procedures that educate and positively effect racial equality should be discussed.
Police accountability is an important issue. While I'm not aware of immediate concern pertaining to the Bellevue Police Department, accountability is always present. It's important to maintain transparency and accessibility to the officers that serve this community. Public meetings that address concerns should be encouraged. Council should research the cost and ramifications of equipping our officers with body cameras, which could record interactions and avoid discrepancies and lawsuits.
