Qualifications for office My ties to the district and the individual communities it encompasses are vast and longstanding. In my professional career, I have spent the majority of my time working in the non-profit sector and am passionate about working towards changing systems of inequality. I feel my personal experience of having lived in socioeconomically diverse areas of the district affords me a unique perspective which would be an asset to the board. I am dedicated to the notion that ALL kids in Woodland HIlls are deserving of respect, dignity, and access to a quality education that prepares them for their future.

District Woodland Hills School District
1) To advocate for and argue in the best interest of the residents of Braddock, Rankin, Swissvale, and Edgewood and their children, especially those in marginalized sections of our communities. 2) To develop a strong academic foundation for all the children in our district with no barriers to access through a universal Pre-K program for district residents. 3) To work towards changing systems of inequality like the school-to-prison pipeline by addressing the need for counselors and trauma-informed social workers as additional support staff for students and teachers.
I am passionate about every child in being treated with respect and dignity and being given equitable access to resources and opportunities. I am a strong supporter of mandatory implicit bias training for all faculty, staff and board members, so that we can start to do the work to build an open and honest dialogue where voices of marginalized groups are heard and represented. I will also continue to support mandatory gifted testing for all students, not just those whose parents request testing.
By engaging with the entire community, not just the students and families who are currently enrolled in the school district, through public forums and outreach events, we can begin to foster curiosity and a love of learning in even the youngest residents of our district. I believe School Board Members should be engaged in their community in and out of the board room. I look forward to getting to know more families in my district and sharing my love of learning with them and their children.
