Qualifications for Office Served in the military for 22 years; worked in aerospace industry 20 years; developed and managed plans/ budgets in the tens of millions annually. Was a military, aerospace and university instructor. With a brother, owned and operated a construction company for over 30 years. Is an active member of: his church, West End Fair Association, several local historical groups and military associations. Is a speaker on local history topics. Worked to preserve the Jonas Oven and Merwinsburg Hotel, participated in the Monroe County’s 175th and West End’s 250th celebrations, and authored several history and genealogy books.
For several years the district has suffered from internal issues and rumors that impacted staff moral and, therefore, our, students. The resultant distrust has diverted precious time and resources -- impacting our students’ education, staff and administrators. I want to be voice of reason by focusing on the facts, not emotion, to arrive at sound solutions for the betterment of all in our school district. I believe my background and experience would be a benefit to the students, staff, administration, board and the taxpayer community. My objective is to work with our board and administrators to provide our youth a safe environment with a range of quality education opportunities suitable to their talents and interests that is also taxpayer affordable.

Finding the best way to balance the academic needs of our students, the necessary improvements to our buildings all while being fiscal responsible to our community will be my major goal over the next few years. Our original high school was built in 1960 and is in need of a renovation and we must also continue to maintain our other buildings as they age. We need to continue the course of providing our students with the 21st century education necessary to become outstanding citizens in this competitive world. To the community I pledge my commitment to reading, researching and asking questions to ensure the right decisions are being made to keeping costs under control.

One of the biggest issues facing our district is the decreasing funds from the state and the rising expenses for quality education, our district has 43% of its students on free or reduced lunch. our community cannot afford the increasing taxes needed to keep the district operating at the level of the superintendent wants.
