Term length: 4 yearsDuties: The City Court has jurisdiction over all violations of the ordinances of the city and all misdemeanors and infractions. The City Court has concurrent jurisdiction with the circuit court in civil cases in which the amount in controversy does not exceed $500 (but does not have jurisdiction in actions for slander, libel, foreclosure of mortgage on real estate, matters related to a decedent’s estate and related matters, actions in equity). The judge of city court also may adopt rules for conducting the business of the court; has powers incident to a court of record in relations to attendance of witnesses, the punishment of contempts, the enforcement of its orders and the issuance of commissions for taking depositions; may administer oaths; etc.Salary: $37,020.43Incumbent: Matthew A.
