Background Worked as an engineer in highway design and construction for 30 years. Attended West H.S. in Denver and graduated from the Colorado School of Mines. Born in Denver, and have lived in southwest Denver since 1988. Have three daughters who graduated college and are working at their careers.
Transportation. With increased population in Denver, it has become difficult to get to work, and other locations in a reasonable time frame. Explore all options to improve our transportation systems, and will look at new ideas from around world. Consider having Colorado sell bonds, and using funds to improve highways and transit. Bond would be paid by fees from motorists and transit riders. Explore new ideas like self driving vehicles. Expand existing services like Lyft and Uber to provides rides for person without cars, and as a method of providing rides for people who been drinking to help reduced driving under the influence. Allow shuttle bus services to provide rides from entertainment venue to people homes.
Abortion is a sensitive subject for many people. However, better access to reproductive health care could reduce the number of unintended pregnancy and reduce the number of abortions.
The most important issue is that our children get a proper education, not which school provides this service. Parents should choose where their children attend school whether it is public or private. Each K-12 student should receive a fair share of available state funds whether they attended public or private schools.
Conservation and wiser water use would help. I would support water use restriction for new development. New housing developments should be constructed with xeriscape landscaping. Existing development can add xeriscape features. More efficient water use in agriculture.
More competition needs to introduced into the medical industry. Medical costs need to be made more transparent, and be more consistent from one patient to the next. Reform the laws governing medical services would reduce costs.
Revise the current construction defeats law to allow builders to provide more affordable multi-family units for sale. Existing buildings can be revamped to provide housing. Various city and county zoning laws can cause housing to be more expensive.
