I took paralegal courses at Houston Community Colle, received BS degree in Criminal Justice/Public Administration from Liberty University. Secretary of Fredericksburg Volunteer Police Support. Volunteer translator for law enforcement and health organizations. Served internship with local attorney researching and preparing cases. Lifelong interest in law and law enforcement.
To help keep the peace as in the early days of Texas history. From public safety issues down to civil disagreements between neighbors, depending on the severity of the problem and the urgency for relief. Be accountable for fines and fees collected, and always be ready for unscheduled calls to duty.
German speaking people, in particular Austrians, had a major influence on the history of Mexico. This is still evident today in their names, such as Rodolfo, Martinez, etc. According to the 2010 Gillespie county US census, 20% or 1 in 5 residents were of Hispanic origin; however, none of the Gillespie county judges today are. Therefore, in all fairness, Hispanics should be represented too.

I am serving my 27th year as Justice of the Peace, Precinct 2. I have been a licensed attorney since 1975. As Justice of the Peace, I issue search warrants, arrest warrants, and blood draw search warrants; handle emergency protective orders, mental commitments, and inquests; conduct criminal and juvenile magistration; preside over both non-jury and jury criminal and civil trials; prepare budgets, county and state mandatory reports and manage court personnel.
All of the duties and responsibilities listed above are equally important. A Justice of the Peace must be fair and impartial to all who appear before the court, must listen carefully to the evidence and arguments presented by the parties and/or their attorneys, and then rule according to law. A Justice of the Peace must be available to handle the multiple responsibilities and duties of the position twenty-four hours a day.
As to my current office, I do not see any pressing problems. I feel the office is run efficiently and cases are handled in a timely manner. I keep informed of new legislation and higher court opinions and annually receive education and training which exceed mandatory requirements.
