Why are you running for this office? What are your top priorities?
Town Meeting Member, Ph.D. Ecology, Bates PTO Green Team, 10 years Plant Science Outreach Teaching
As an ecologist, I am dedicated to studying, protecting, and explaining the natural world. Over the last 10 years, I have led hands-on workshops in plant science at the STEM EXPO and in the Wellesley schools. Now I would like to bring that scientific expertise to enhance the educational programming and outreach of the NRC. As a Town Meeting Member, I am also interested in and familiar with town government. I believe that my background and balanced perspective will help inform policy and stewardship of open spaces. My collaborative approach to decision-making will be an asset as we consider how to manage our town forests, our recreational spaces, and the North 40. As a mother of 3 kids, my priority is on building a better Wellesley for future generations.
Former executive looking to bring for-profit and non-profit board experience to my community.
My family and I have had the opportunity to enjoy Wellesley’s wonderful trails and parks for over 10 years and I am honored to run for the NRC. If elected, my expertise in chairing both for-profit (financial services) and non-profit (childhood wellness) organizations will allow me to contribute to NRC goals. It is my hope that the skills I have developed in bringing various teams together, as well as bringing a fresh perspective to the issues at hand, would be a welcome addition to the board. My main priority would be to focus on the future of Wellesley’s natural resources, so children and future residents will benefit from improving our outdoor spaces. I would also like increase collaborative efforts between the mission of the NRC and the various constituencies around town.
As a Wellesley resident and parent for the last decade, I bring a balanced user perspective to the Natural Resource Council and would like to continue the great work and mission of previous NRC boards. Regularly using the playgrounds, recycling, gardening, coaching on the fields, and taking family walks/runs on the trails give me an up close perspective. I also bring a broader small business owners overview and experience. If elected I feel my expertise in socially responsible/long-term investing and non-profit organization involvement as well as financial planning and asset allocation, will allow me to contribute to help realize the NRC mission, vision and help achieve some additional short and long term NRC goals. Town Government, facilitative consulting, environmental leadership and community engagement
A 27-year resident of Wellesley, I have a deep appreciation for our community and have long worked to enhance our town’s extraordinary assets. My top priority is to hear and represent all residents as I work to advance the NRC’s mission of environmental stewardship. I have served in Town Meeting for 5 years and will use my experience to guide policy and balanced decision-making. A passionate advocate for safe drinking water, I co-founded Friends of Brookside in 2010 to protect the aquifer that provides our water under the eastern side of town. I also co-founded Art in the Park, an annual public art project engaging the whole community. Proud parent of a WHS athlete, I treasure our open space and recreational facilities and will work to protect and improve them.
