For more than a decade, I have served the people of my district as their twice-elected justice and have authored hundreds of opinions. I have also provided legal education to judges and lawyers throughout the state and country.
Our criminal and civil justice systems benefit as a whole when we continue to foster and encourage more access to justice. I served as an appointed commissioner of the Texas Access for Justice Commission, which expands access to justice for low-income Texans. I was also appointed to the Texas Legal Services Corp., which provides civil legal aid to low-income Texans.
The highest responsibility I have as a Court of Appeals justice is to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the laws of the United States and the State of Texas. Building on that, I will continue to expeditiously rule on cases by following the Constitution and law, and treat all parties equally, fairly, and justly--regardless of who they are and where they com
