• Protecting our environment and preventing unsustainable and costly sprawl by passing the County Sustainability plan • Creating well-paying jobs through cooperative economic development strategies between the city and county while advocating for middle class to make sure corporations pay their fair share • Increasing government transparency, creating accessibility, and standing up to corruption through accountability
The city is at the core of this county providing thousands of jobs to people throughout the county. When the city is thriving, the county is thriving. One proven way to end poverty is through education for all. Free universal early childhood education is imperative and is one way to tackle the poverty issue. This will include funding for technical and vocational training, as well as technical training funding for incarcerated persons. The recidivism rate in Central NY is too high. We must find another way to address crime which is directly linked to poverty. We must continue to ensure a living wage for all. When our community is working and providing for their families then we are tackling poverty. I will advocate for maintaining a living wage so that we can work toward decreasing reliance on tax-payer funded programs.

1. Maximize the business climate in Central New York in order to attract new businesses to area and encourage current businesses to expand and grow here, thereby retaining and creating new, well-paying jobs.. 2. Ensure that the many benefits and attractions that we enjoy in Central New York are not diminished, impaired or damaged in any way by ill-conceived actions, initiatives or programs. 3. To minimize the size, scope and cost of county government, so as to minimize the tax and financial burdens being placed upon already financially strapped local taxpayers.
The only way we can truly reduce poverty in the City of Syracuse, and the County as a whole, is to facilitate job creation and growth by making Central New York as attractive to business as possible. We must also encourage, if not demand, the cooperation of State government in reducing the size, scope and cost of State government, and to demand that the State assume the full cost of the State mandates which are presently crushing County, Town and Village governments. We must further demand that the State eliminate or restructure its economic incentive programs, which simply pick winners and losers and unevenly and unfairly allocate the benefits from the business incentives provided by such programs. Lastly, we must demand that State government eliminate the crushing and unnecessary regulatory requirements that drive businesses out of this State, due to the inordinate and enormous financial and personnel resources that businesses must devote to State regulatory compliance.
