1) We need to continue to work closely with State and County officials to expand our Open Space and Farmland Preservation efforts using funding resources from the Middlesex County Open Space Acquisition Program, the New Jersey Green Acres and State Farmland Preservation to fund additional open space acquisitions. We currently have nearly 8,000 acres and the goal of preserving 50% of the township is one the council is actively working on every month.

2) My highest priority will be maintaining our low, municipal tax rate. We will remain stable, as we have the past 4 years, by continuing to control municipal spending, effective management of our operating departments and a well-defined schedule of capital improvements. The goal is to maintain or decrease our municipal tax rate, currently 3rd lowest in the county, and deliver the high quality services our diverse community enjoy.

3) Demand the State of New Jersey fully fund the Monroe Township School District under state law.
I believe all municipalities should consider shared services proposals with their neighboring municipal governments, school boards, and authorities for staffing, services and goods procurement. This directly benefits two entities and saves taxpayers money.
The municipal portion of property taxes constitute about 20 % of the bill, or 20 cents of a dollar. This municipal portion of your tax bill has been stable for the last four years. Each year during the budget process, every department and program is scrutinized and evaluated to determine the benefit to our residents. This process is open and public. The governing body insists on the highest standards from our departments and we hold them accountable to deliver results. Fiscal responsibility is our team’s highest priority, so constant evaluation of our services is crucial to maintaining our outstanding quality of life here in the township. I fully support creative shared services and partnerships to reduce the burden on tax payers. Furthermore, our Standard & Poor’s Bond rating is AA+ and we look to continue to find ways to reduce our debt.
I am an experienced public health professional with more than 30 years of demonstrated expertise in program development, administration and implementation in government, not for profit and corporate settings with demonstrated leadership abilities in the area of public health policy development. I created the first public health nursing division at the Middlesex County Public Health Department and organized the first professional association for public health nursing administrators in NJ. I was the Director of Disaster Preparedness at the NJ Primary Care Association for 6 years where I worked with all the federally qualified health centers to develop plans and programs for staff. Currently, I am a member of the adjunct faculty of the College of New Jersey. I am a resident of Greenbriar at Whittingham and a member of the Whittingham Homeowners Association Board of Trustees, for the last 6 years, just re-elected, served as board president for 2 years.
