I too have a kitchen table budget. Prioritizing how funds are distributed is a common occurrence. With my husband owning a small business we often make the hard decisions of where funds are needed most, or would result in the highest beneficial outcome. Given the budget constraints of the city, my focus will be to listen to the wants and needs of Jonestown residents and communicate those priorities to our Council.
A major issue Jonestown is faced with can be seen in the business district. The city lacks central sewage, preventing many businesses from operating based on septic system regulations and expenses. The sales and use taxes collected are an important revenue for the city, and local business should be encouraged. Utilizing managed development and grant opportunities will aid in creating a central sewage system.
I believe that what we do today impacts tomorrow. I want to be the citizens voice in making informed decisions, and to continue my community involvement with honesty and integrity. Since moving to Jonestown in 1995, I have watched how the city has progressed from dirt roads and pot holes to a thriving community. I would like to be involved with the progress our city will see in the future. When elected as the next Jonestown City Council Alderwoman, I look forward to working with our city representatives and all Jonestown citizens to benefit today's residents and future generations.
