Facebook Denise Mentzer Mount Clemens City Commissioner
This is a re-election for me, I have served on Commission for 4 years. I have a Bachelor in Business degree, and training as a Small Business Consultant that I received from the Macomb County Department of Planning and Economic Development. I believe the City of Mount Clemens would benefit from aggressive marketing and economic development. I am running again because I believe that we should work together with our neighboring communities to share costs and services. This would lead to cost efficiencies and economies of scale. By increasing our marketing of vacant properties and increasing purchasing efficiencies coupled with strident fiscal responsibility, we can move the City forward and make it more welcoming to current residents and attract others.
It may sound naive but we are all made the same. It doesn't matter what your race, religion or culture is. What matters is how you treat people, that your word is your bond, that you listen well and that you are honest in your interaction with others.
Mount Clemens residents love their City. Residents stepped up and approved the Charter amendment which raised their property taxes to ensure the City would move forward and meet its obligations. Residents saw the need and exceeded expectations.

Economic Development, not Community Development is critical to the success of this City. We must do more to attract businesses that benefit the City and its residents while bringing in needed revenue. We need a professional marketer, we need to separate Community Development from Blight and Ordinance enforcement and we need to more aggressively follow through on grant opportunities.
