Qualifications for Office Served on the school board since 2006. Prior to that served on the Redistricting Committee 1997-2006; Olentangy for Kids 1998 - current; Citizens Advisory Committee, member of the Delaware Area Career Center Board of Education, State Superintendent Tax Force on Assessments; State Standards, Assessments and Accountability Workgroup.
I have been on the school board since 2006 and want to continue to serve the resident of our school district. I have a communications background so I use that to communicate to our residents what is happening in the district. I also have great knowledge in the inner workings of state government which helps in advocating for Olentangy. I have a passion for high quality, public education.
For students, the challenge is keeping up with changes at the state and federal level. We keep changing testing and graduation requirements and it's not only confusing but not consistent. I served on the state superintendent's task force on state assessments and I'm currently on the Ohio Department of Education's Standards, Assessments and Accountability Workgroup hoping to lend the voice of Olentangy students to the group's work. I think we are over testing our students and the students are the ones who suffer.
We don't have various plans for additional physical facilities, we just have 1 plan and it's a cohesive plan that supports the mission of our district. Right now the next school building to open is Olentangy Berlin High School. We don't have any other buildings in the planning stages at this time but will have a presentation on future enrollment in November. Our Facilities Committee will be making the enrollment presentation like they have every November. I will listen to their recommendations and consider them thoroughly just like I have been doing since 2006.
