Experience (300 characters max) I have many years associated with North Perry Water District as a commissioner and at times Chairman of the Board.
I ran for the Commissioner position at the encouragement of the former general manager of the North Perry Water District. I have always had an interest in serving the community in which I live.
The three major issues facing the North Perry Water District, as with most other districts are 1. The lack of public funding for capital projects (no money in the public trust fund anymore). 2. A shortage of motivated, qualified personnel in the water industry. 3. Obtaining water rights in rural areas is extremely difficult for those interested in being on a private well, and this puts pressure on water districts to extend their mains to serve these people.
Probably #3, because of the extreme costs associated with extending mains.
As mentioned before, I have always has an interest in serving and being involved in the community in which I reside. Additionally I have a strong educational background including a Masters Degree in Public Administration.
North Perry Water District is always striving to reduce water usage on a per capita basis. Presently, our usage now is lower than it has ever been. Continued reduction will include involvement with Water Pac, public outreach, providing conservation kits and rate structuring.
