Island Main Street Sewer Commissioner, Position 3

6-year term; No Salary A Wastewater District is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the sewer and other wastewater facilities within their jurisdiction and of the proper disposal of sewage generated by the jurisdiction. The commission sets the general policies of the district, which are implemented by the hired professional staff. The commission sets the rates for service within the district. One of commission's main duties is the adoption of the district's budget and proposal of any Wastewater district levies to be placed on the ballot to the people. The commission sets policies and approves all spending via the budget, whether for operations or capital items or public facility maintenance and improvements. The council also sets salaries for district employees.

Experience (300 characters max) I have been engaged in public service of various activities for more than half a century. Some of my present activities besides the Main St. Sewer Com. are board Northwest Maritime Center, Pt. Townsend and Chaplain, Whidbey Marine Corp League, c. 1210. I'm a Korean combat veteran.
I am presently on the Main Street Sewer Commission and I am campaigning to renew my term that is expiring.
1. Continued service improvement's to our community 2. Keeping costs affordable for those in the community of modest means 3. Keeping our facilities from contamination
All are of equal and great importance.
I have been a member of our sewer commission for a short while and am trying to improve my knowledge of the system with the help of my more experienced colleagues and excellent staff. As a trial attorney I have been engaged in litigation containing similar issues in representing the Taunton (MA) and Rockport (MA) Municipal Sewer and Lighting Districts. I have for 35 years represented and sued public and private entities covering a broad range of issues important to consumers and have co-authored a book for the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorney on consumer protection laws and regulations.
