Biography B.A., U.Va. 1989 J.D. U.Va 1993 M.Ed, U.Va. 2009 Greene County Commonwealth's Attorney, July 2017-Present; Assistant Greene County Commonwealth's Attorney 2012-2017; Private practice of law 1993-2017
In addition to prosecuting criminal cases, the Commonwealth’s Attorney serves as a focal point in the community with regard to the health and safety of its residents. As your Commonwealth’s Attorney I lead and participate in a number of organizations that focus on the needs of Greene County, such as the Multi-Disciplinary Team, the Sexual Assault Response Team, Crisis Intervention Team, and the Prisoner Re-entry Council. I also speak directly to our youth through their civics classes.
The primary significance of being a Constitutional Officer is that the position is directly responsible to the voters. As a Commonwealth's Attorney the citizens of Greene must know that my decisions are not made for partisan reasons. As your Commonwealth's Attorney I believe that it is critical to be accountable to the people, not a party, and that is why I am running as an Independent.
The key to successful prosecutions, especially in more serious cases, is constant communication between law enforcement and the Commonwealth’s Attorneys office. For the last five years I have worked very closely with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation and prosecution of crimes, including very serious felony cases. I meet almost daily with law enforcement officers and am intimately involved in the initial charging decisions as well as throughout the prosecution.
