Biographical Information

Please provide biographical information and explain why you are running for City office and relevant qualities and skills you would bring to the position.

What are the top 3 Priority Issues that the city should address and what actions would you take regarding each of them?

Married, One daughter. Degree in Business Administration from Oakland Community College. Currently serving on second term as Council Member, City of Wixom. Served as a Trustee for the City of Wixom Library. Former president of the Wixom Elementary PTA. Awarded an Golden Apple Award from the Walled Lake Community School District. I'm running for this position because I feel that I can truly make a difference and positive impact in the city where I live and raise my family.
SERVICES. Continue to provide the Citizens of Wixom with the highest level of services, prioritizing the Police and Fire Departments as well as assuring that training and equipment needs are kept current and state of the art.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT. Continue to work with City and Government officials to attract prospective businesses, develop the remainder of the former Ford property and support established businesses residing in Wixom.

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY. A top priority. This includes development of a multi year, balanced budget and stabilization plan as well as accommodations for funding critical services.
I have lived in Wixom my entire life and for as long as I can remember, I’ve had an interest in politics because I know how much power politics has in helping people. I am running for the Wixom city council this year because I want to help those in my community because no matter your socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, and gender, America can be a home for all of us if we work hard enough. I have worked with organizations like HAVEN to help stop domestic partner violence and sexual assault, as well as by educating others in making sure we end these behaviors at the source. I have also spoken at the Detroit Renaissance Center, giving educators across the country suggestions on how we can fix America’s school system because I know that today’s youth will be the leaders of tomorrow.
I believe that economic development is the most important issue facing our city. I want to help Wixom unleash its creative potential for keeping small businesses afloat, alongside making our city more desirable for larger corporations like Amazon. Refocusing taxes and giving more incentives for companies to settle here. Attempting to earn funding opportunities through grants and helping our citizens retrain to learn more skills are equally important to me. Infrastructure should be another top priority. We must pay attention towards our diminishing roads and work towards improving them before it's too late. We should be conducting risk assessments and binding risk allocations so that we can focus on stabilizing the worst roads at once with relocating more of the budget to our infrastructure. The alleviation of crime and keeping community members safe is a critical issue we can all agree on. I propose we help support our police officers by creating programs towards enhancing crime analysis, increase youth programs, and have a stronger presence throughout the city and its neighborhoods.

I have lived with my wife and raised our three children in Wixom for twenty-two years and have resided in the Lakes area for forty-four (44) years with four years in Europe.

I am the President & Chief Executive Officer of an electronics engineering firm in Oakland County serving the global automotive and aerospace markets. Two of my adult children have their businesses in Wixom and helping them get started has been an opportunity for me to experience the entire process of doing business in Wixom

I have served two four-year terms on City council and many of those years were during the dark days of our major recession. I am running for a third term since I feel that the experience gained during those tough times is very valuable in helping the city during these growth and re-building years.
I believe our first priority is to capitalize on these economic times and continue to attract new business to the city. We have a great start with the re-development of the former Ford property and attraction of new industrial and technology businesses in our industrial parks. I will continue to support administration in attracting new businesses.

The next priority for the city is to continue to develop our growing Village Center Area. We have great family-run restaurants and the addition of the brewery added life to the west end of town. The new Michigan Airline Trailway will also attract families to Wixom. I will continue to support attraction of quality family-run businesses and support our growing DDA and Senior groups.

The third priority will be to keep a high level of city services to our growing population while watching costs. We have done a good job consolidating and maintaining our existing assets but many of these are past their useful life. I will continue my efforts on prudent spending but encourage sensible growth based spending towards expanding our economic base.
