Biographical Information

Please provide biographical information and explain why you are running for City office and relevant qualities and skills you would bring to the position.

What are the top 3 Priority Issues that the city should address and what actions would you take regarding each of them?

I am a mother of four children, sons and daughters, I’ve been married to my children’s father and also raised my children as a single parent. I have my own business.

What have I done in Pontiac for the 4 years I’ve been here? In 2014, I was homeless, but since then I have volunteered at the Pontiac Library, helped the homeless find a place to live, and helped people become Friends of the Pontiac Public Library. I also am a member of Pontiac Food Bank, who gives back to those in need.
My reason for running is to pave the path to rebuild families, rebuild the community, and renew the nation and world.

My experience includes organizing and working to develop the youth in Pontiac. I know what it takes!

Repair- Connect- Prepare REPAIR Even though repairs to the infrastructure are underway, we are still presented with the opportunity rebuild with the latest time/cost saving technologies. We would afford these through grants with matching monies. The City is moving forward but are we putting I best foot forward? With me I would ensure that the plan to do so would be present. CONNECT The City government needs to connect to the people more efficiently, and effectively. The City has multiple media mediums it has completely underutilized. This is were my Vision can be game changer for the City. PREPARE We must prepare our children to expect success, Home ownership should be obtainable. Most importantly we need to prepare the city to endure the tests and trials that come with time,we could do this by setting up auxiliary schemes ,when it comes to city spending. As of now the a lot of Pontiac's perceived progress has been because of volunteers. the City should maintain relationships with those who will be called to serve again.
I am currently the only candidate, who has been active with District 3, not only living in it, since 1992, but also active during the time of 9 years of oversight, by the State Treasury office with the Emergency Fiscal Manager and RTAB. Although our responsibilities were limited, I continued to stay active in our District. I walk or drive the neighborhoods, speaking to our business owners and residents, hearing their concerns amd still continue to address District wide issues, on a far more frequently than that of a part-time basis, which Council's position is. I also make it a point to know the ordinances, both State and local, following them or knowing who to address them with, if I do not, to ensure all is being handled in the correct and legal way.
1.Economic Development is a must. Welcome businesses who want to move to our City. New businesses mean new property taxes as well as income taxes. Welcome businesses and encourage both residents to apply for open positions and businesses to hire qualified City Residents. 2. Safety of our neighborhoods. To accomplish this I would continue working with OCSD to establish Neighborhood Watch Programs, which will create a more proactive response on criminal activities, resulting in a safer community for all. 3. Community Developmemt ensuring City and State Ordinance are developed and or redesigned for the betterment of all parties concerned, but at the sametime they need to be adhered to by all residents and businesses, with no favortism. Making our City a safer place for all to Live, Work and Play. How to make this happen? Continue with meetings and open communication with all parties involved.
