What are your thoughts regarding funding the infrastructure needs of your community?

Age 45
Education High School and some college
Training & Experience I have been involved in our community activities for 11 years plus. I have vast experience in maintenance, construction, mediation, meetings and other business areas needed to promote and improve our township as a township trustee. I am fair and honest.
I believe our township would benefit from various funding opportunities. For starters, we lack in the area of grant funding. I took a couple classes last winter to familiarize myself with grant writing. If elected as one of the Deerfield Township Trustees, I would like to expand our townships knowledge and ability to utilize grant funding. I believe a Grant Committee would be an excellent idea to fund such things as our public park, our local cemeteries, our local American Legion, our circle, and all township grounds. I also believe by allowing our residents the opportunities to voice the opinions, ideas, and concerns in a meeting atmosphere our township would expand the in kind donations from local businesses and even residents. I would also explore endlessly all federal and state funding that would apply to our townships needs and desires. As Trustee, I would expand the opportunities of funding from all viable sources possible to rectify and suit all infrastructure needs.
Age 63
Education 12 yrs. public school. Various continuing education classes annually.
Training & Experience Supervisor at a large steel mill 15+ yrs. Elected official almost 14 yrs.
Townships in Ohio are all struggling to make ends meet. I would come up with ways to tighten our belts, look for and find public grants to help cover costs. Also would try to work with other townships, the county, state, whoever may be able to help us buy at a lower cost, and possibly help with inhous labor.

Training & Experience I am a Teacher/Coach/Athletic Director with over 25 years of experience. I am very active in my community. I am a charter member of Southeast Portage County Lion's Club trying to help those in my community by giving back to those in Need.
In the past 10 years the budget of my community has been drastically reduced by 30%-35%. Therefore we must be very frugal with our budget. Over the past 8 years I have been very vocal in working with the other trustees to maintain our fire department and roads at the highest possible standards. I will actively continue to work with our commissioners to ensure that Deerfield get its fair share.
