I am able to gather information, evaluate that and make decisions to achieve the desired outcomes. I have experience in widely varied positions in many different organizations that will permit me to look at problems and opportunities from different angles. I will approach the work not limited by the tunnel vision of one who has been shaped by being immersed in the education system.
The biggest challenge is government interference at both the state and federal level and the resulting financial strings attached. Both governments mandate huge portions of the operation of all school districts without providing the funding. The challenge is following and funding those mandates, many of which are harmful to the mission of the district and it's students. Ideally the current administration would eliminate the federal department of education, and the state DOE would become merely an advisory board returning local control to all districts within the state. The other challenge is operating the district on the limited funds provided by the community and the uncertainty of state funding that changes every 2 years. Currently some are demanding HS busing, but the community doesn't appear willing to provide the additional funding necessary to pay for it.
Now that the finances have been stabilized in the district (for the time being), we need to take steps to make them sustainable. Equally important we need to improve the academic performance in the district and make changes to move the educational delivery methods into the 21st century.

My work history includes retail and warehouse management, customer service, accounting, and human resources. I have spent the past 8 years at the Internal Revenue Service as a Revenue Agent in the Tax Exempt/Government Entities Division. I was unanimously appointed to the WCLSD School Board in April 2017 to fill a vacant seat.

I have a vested interest in this community and this school district. I moved to West Clermont in 2002 and bought a condo in 2008. My wife & I built our house here in 2013. My nephew is a Junior at the new West Clermont High School.

I’m a founding member of the community group West Clermont United and currently am the volunteer treasurer of Cincy Kids 4 Kids. I recently served on the boards of the West Clermont Education Foundation and the Apple Valley Condo Owners Association. I feel that my experience with these organizations, my work experience, and my community involvement give me the knowledge and understanding needed to be an effective school board member.
The biggest challenges we face include raising academic standards, aging facilities, teacher and staff retention, transportation, and ever-increasing expenses without an increase in revenue especially in the face of unfunded federal and state mandates that require us to spend more local monies on implementing policy instead of educating our children.

I will work with the rest of the Board and the Superintendent to ensure we are creating a culture that enhances students’ learning experience with the goal of graduating high school and being college and/or career ready. This is done by having our classrooms, learning materials, and technology current, in good shape, and up-to-date, by setting high academic standards and goals, and by attracting and retaining talented teachers and staff.

While an operating levy may be necessary, we must be fiscally responsible while continuing to search for creative funding solutions so the community trusts that we are good stewards of their tax dollars.
Help find solutions to transportation, facility, and employee retention issues.

Work to restore and expand educational programming and support.

Support administration, teachers, & staff in raising the academic bar district-wide.

Continue fiscal responsibility and keeping the district out of financial trouble.

I have worked in the public school for 40 years as a speech pathologist. As a result, I understand how schools operate and what is needed to provide quality education to our students. I am an experienced board member and understand the needs of our district and work tirelessly to implement programs to fulfill the district needs. I am well-organized and am able to multi-task. I am a good listener and I am willing to listen to the ideas and concerns of others. I am a team player and respect options and ideas that differ from my owm. I am friendly and approachable. I am a visable board member, attending many school and community events. My past experience with the Great Oaks board has given me the skills to understand the vocational needs of our students and the programs in place to serve these needs.

-Maintaining fiscal stability in order to sustain current programs and to restore programs that had been cut in the past.

-The building of two new elementary schools. While this is a good challenge to have, it is nonetheless a challenge.

-Retention of teachers/staff. With our past money troubles, we lost many teachers/staff to other districts who were more financially stable at that time.
-To continue to provide a quality education for all of students by offering rhe programs and supports that they need to become successful adults.

- To ensure that are schools are safe places for our students to learn and sraff to work.

- To maintain fiscal stability while looking for ways to restore programs/ services that have been cut (restoring art, gym, music to full capacity in our elementary schools, looking at transportation services)

-To continue our partnerships with the community and families so that our schools are welcomong places and become hubs for activities.
